This Privacy Policy describes how Lapsed ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Lapsed mobile application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you create an account or use the App:

• Email address — used to create and authenticate your account
• Username (handle) — your public identifier in the app
• Timer data — your start time, lapse history, and lap records
• Photos — when another user lapses you, your device's front camera captures a photo. This photo is uploaded to our servers and permanently attached to your profile, visible to other users. By accepting our Terms of Service, you explicitly consent to this.
• Profile photo — if you choose to set one, uploaded to our servers
• Device push token — to send you notifications about lapses, follows, and shield activity
• Purchase history — in-app purchases (shields, skins, relapse) processed through Apple and RevenueCat
• Follow relationships — who you follow and who follows you

2. How We Use Your Information

• To operate and provide the App's core functionality
• To display your profile, timer, and lapse history to other users
• To send push notifications you have opted into
• To process in-app purchases
• To maintain the global leaderboard

3. Data Storage and Third Parties

Your data is stored and processed using the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, database (Firestore), and file storage. Data is stored on Google's servers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat — in-app purchase management. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• Expo — push notification delivery. See Expo's Privacy Policy.

4. Camera and Photos

The App requests access to your device's camera. The camera is activated when another user initiates a lapse on your device. A photo is taken automatically and uploaded permanently to our servers. This photo is visible to other users of the App and cannot be deleted by you after it is taken. You consent to this when you accept our Terms of Service.

You may also optionally upload a profile photo from your camera or photo library.

5. Data Visibility

The following information is visible to other users of the App by default:

• Your username, timer, lapse history, and lapse photos
• Your position on the leaderboard
• Your profile photo (if set)
• Your follower and following relationships

You can disable public profile visibility and leaderboard appearance in the App's Settings tab.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. Lapse photos are permanent and cannot be deleted. If you delete your account, we will delete your account data upon request, except for lapse photos which remain permanently on record.

7. Children's Privacy

Lapsed is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete the account.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To make a request, contact us at the email below. Note that lapse photos are explicitly excluded from deletion rights as outlined in our Terms of Service.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
